Martin Redfern wired his first house in 1987.

He still checks the test results on every certificate that leaves this office. That’s the whole company philosophy, really — the rest of this page is detail.

How we got here

  1. 1987

Martin wires his first house as an apprentice with a Guildford contractor. He still checks the test results on every certificate that leaves this office.

  2. 1998

Redfern Electrical starts with one van, one pager, and a decade of everything from farm buildings to listed cottages behind it.

  3. 2003

Karen joins to run the accounts. Every invoice, every CIS return, every supplier statement since has crossed her desk.

  4. 2011

Dawn takes over the office and the phone. She books every job and remembers which customers have a dog.

  5. 2019

Jack starts as the firm’s apprentice — the second Redfern to learn the trade properly, from the floorboards up.

  6. 2023

Jack qualifies and takes on the EV charging and smart-home side of the business.

  7. Today

Ten of us: six electricians, a project manager, the office, and the accounts. Big enough for a rewire, small enough to care whose name is on the van.

How we work

Certainty first. You get an honest estimate before we visit, a fixed quote after we survey, and an invoice that matches it. If a closed wall hides a surprise, you see it and price it before we touch it.

Proof over promises. We photograph every circuit before the wall closes. Certificates go out before invoices do. Our registrations are real numbers you can check, not logos in a footer.

Manners matter. Dust sheets down, shoes off at the door if that’s the house rule, floors back each evening on a rewire, and a phone that gets answered by Dawn — not a hold queue.

What our accreditations actually mean for you

NICEIC 034512
NICEIC assess our work, our test instruments and our qualifications every year. It also means our work is covered by the Platinum Promise — if we got something wrong and wouldn’t fix it, NICEIC would step in. We would, though.
BS 7671:2018+A2 (18th Edition)
The current wiring regulations. Every electrician here is qualified to them — not just the one who signs the certificates.
Part P registered
We self-certify notifiable work to Building Control, which saves you the council fee and the paperwork.
TrustMark · £5m public liability · 6-yr guarantee
Government-endorsed standards scheme, serious insurance, and a workmanship guarantee that outlasts most warranties on the appliances we wire in.
