Cranleigh likes to remind you it’s the largest village in England, and it does feel like a village that outgrew the label — a long High Street, Cranleigh School, and countryside starting the moment you leave the middle. We reach it on the pretty road through Bramley and Shamley Green, past the old railway line that’s now the Downs Link.

The mix of properties out here leans rural, and so does the work. Alongside the usual village terraces and family homes, we do a lot of the jobs that come with land: garden studios and home offices needing their own armoured supply, outbuilding and stable power, external sockets and lighting, and the occasional farm building that hasn’t been touched since rubber cable was normal. Cranleigh has plenty of newer estates too, where it’s more about EV chargers, extra sockets and lighting than full rewires.
