What moves the price

Questions we actually get asked
Can you fit lights I’ve bought myself?
Of course. About half our lighting work is fitting customers’ own choices. If something you’ve bought is poorly made or wrong for the room, we’ll say so before it goes up.
How many downlights does a room need?
Fewer than most installers fit. A grid of twelve in a small kitchen is a cliché, not a scheme — we’d rather layer a few downlights with under-cabinet and pendant light. It looks better and runs cheaper.
Do smart bulbs or smart switches make more sense?
Usually switches — they work for guests, survive Wi-Fi outages, and don’t care which bulb is fitted. Bulbs suit renters and colour-changing corners. Happy to talk it through.
Will you make good the holes?
Yes — cutting in neatly and filling is part of the job. Paint touch-ups are yours, but you won’t be re-plastering.
Is a certificate really needed for lights?
Any alteration to fixed wiring gets at least a Minor Works Certificate from us. It matters when you sell the house, and it’s how work should be done anyway.
